If there’s one thing I know as a native Texan, it’s how to spend a day at the pool. Beginning my ways as a teen girl to meet friends and only continuing to refine itself through my years of Motherhood, I am a master of the art of packing a bag of summer pool day essentials.
Thankfully, the pools in Freiburg, Germany, have been an amazing feeling of home – just totally different. Some changes are that it’s both very picnic friendly and it’s further from home than our haunts in Texas – new opportunities to really help me perfect by pool bag.
I love the culture here of making after school playdates a regular thing, and I very much intend to host my summer playdates for my daughter’s charming friends from under one of the luscious trees at this public pool.
I thought all of this justified a sturdy new one piece bathing suit with personality. The hint of shimmer on this one piece suit just adds to the glistening effect that everything seems to take on in the afternoon at the pool – like how the heat makes waves in the air and the sun reflects off the water spraying through the air and beading up on our sunscreened shoulders.
The pool has a gorgeous, midcentury Scandinavian design which works great for me.
The grass is so lush, it keeps inspiring the colors in our pool bag.
These flower sunglasses that I made in Dallas have been such a hit. They’re so cute in photos that I hardly mind how often they’re stolen. 🙂
What goes in your perfect pool bag? I have to have SPF, something to read, water, towels and snacks on snacks.
